LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The holiday season is getting into full swing as the Salvation Army prepares to kick off its 2024 Red Kettle Campaign.
A special event will be held Monday at the State Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort featuring Gov. Andy Beshear, first lady Britainy Beshear and Lt. Governor Jacqueline Coleman.
The Salvation Army’s Brass Band is also expected to perform.
The change dropped in the little red kettles outside of stores and supermarkets provides direct support for the Salvation Army’s programs.
The programs help provide shelter, meals and essential services across Kentucky.
Nationally, the Salvation Army helps 24 million Americans overcome poverty, addiction and economic hardship through a variety of social services.
The event begins at 11 a.m.
