LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Several Louisville residents have been displaced after an early morning fire at their home in the Shawnee neighborhood.

The Louisville Fire Department responded to the fire in the 3500 block of West Main Street around 9 a.m. on Saturday.

A department spokesperson said crews arrived on scene within two minutes and found the one-story home engulfed in flames. Crews immediately began setting up exposure lines to protecting neighboring properties.

Firefighters then began making their way inside the home to check if anyone was inside and to begin attacking the fire from inside.

LFD said everyone inside three adults, two children and a cat were able to safely evacuate and no injuries were reported.

According to the home's occupants, they were cooking when the grease they were using caught fire.

The home suffered "heavy fire damage", while another home sustained damage to its siding.

Fire officials said the American Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
