SHEPHERDSVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – The city of Shepherdsville has elected a new mayor, according to their city council.
According to councilmember Larry Hatfield, Curtis Hockenbury was elected to the top post Tuesday at the city council meeting by a vote of 4-1 and one no vote.
Hatfield says the Hockenbury has no political experience but is a former police officer serving both Louisville Metro Police and Shepherdsville departments.
He says they didn’t want the governor to designate someone, so they worked together to make it happen.
Hatfield believes the city will see a lot of positive change in the next three to 6 months. He told WHAS11 News a lot of people are disappointed but now they are moving forward.
