LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The Shively Police Department has revealed a new way for you to report crimes in the area.

On Wednesday, the department explained a new tip line portal for people to call and communicate the problems to the police.

Authorities told WHAS11 News you can text information or even send pictures.

They said they are always looking for ways to communicate with residents and ease their fears.

We do realize that a lot of people's fear with reporting crime and tips can come from the prospect of retaliation and through this portal it allows us the ability to communicate with them truly anonymously to where they can remain anonymous if they choose to do so," Shively Police Sgt. Jordan Brown said.

"And also through this there's other abilities to, such as, they can report non-emergency issues such as requesting extra patrols for traffic concerns, people who are violating noise concerns and things that don't necessarily need a police response immediately, but its more of a qualify of life issue that we can address through our daily patrols."

If you need to report a crime or have any police needs, you can text 274637 and include the word "Shively" in the message. It will go directly to their call center.
