Simulator teaches dangers of distracted driving

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – Seven out of 10 people use their smartphones when they drive – and they just aren’t texting.

They’re checking out social media, taking selfies and video chatting.

Students at Jeffersonville High School got an up-close look at the dangers of distracted driving Monday.

AT&T and the city of Jeffersonville joined up for the “It Can Wait” campaign.

The virtual reality simulator allows students to experience first-hand how dangerous it is to take their eyes off the road and look at their phones.

Since the campaign’s launch in 2010, more than 15 million people have made the pledge not to text and drive.

AT&T allows users to use their smartphones for a 360 degree experience. Click here for more information.
