LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) -- Louisville Metro Emergency Services is making it easier to help you in an emergency through a new program called Smart911.
Through the program, you can create a profile with your family's detailed information like photos, addresses and medical allergies that will show up when you call for help.
Right now, about 84 percent of 911 calls come from cell phones which only includes a phone number and general information about a location.
“This can make it difficult for us to quickly and accurately determine the exact location for your emergency. With a Smart911 profile, call takers and our response team can receive the work or home address associated with that phone number and quickly respond to your address or the citizen in need,” Jody Meiman, Executive Director at Metro Emergency Services, said.
