Pennstakes.com took the 50 most common accents and analyzed thousands of online posts over the last year to determine which accent is deemed the sexiest across the U.S.
1. Southern Accent
Unsurprisingly, the U.S. accent ranked No. 1 is the easily-recognizable, hard-to-resist southern accent. Pennstakes.com found that 76,940 online posts in favor of the southern drawl were made in the last year.
Southerners are often seen as more hospitable, charismatic and charming. People with southern accents are also perceived as more trustworthy. If you're looking for more dependability in your dating life, the southern accent may be one of your favorites.
2. New York Accent
The unmistakable New York accent takes the second spot on the list. The New York accent received 70,460 mentions, and after years of being featured in countless movies and TV shows, it's not hard to understand why it ranks so strongly.
The New York accent screams self-confidence. Some even believe the accent evolved over years of shouting over the city's hustle and bustle. According Pennstakes.com, people seem to be drawn to its gritty allure and urban robustness.
3. California Accent
The laid-back California accent was named the third-most attractive accent in America, with 45,360 mentions. The accent, often associated with surfing, is distinguishable with its drawn-out vowels and easy-going vibe. Many people believe the accent epitomizes the carefree West Coast spirit.
4. Texan Accent
In fourth place, the folksy Texan accent stands with 42,330 mentions online. A Texan accent is similar to a southern accent, but with a twist. The melodic Texan drawl is arguably one of the well-known U.S. accents, especially after it was popularized in various Western movies.
5. Boston Accent
The Boston accent was voted the fifth-sexiest accent in the country, with 34,110 mentions online. Similarly to the New York accent, the Boston accent exudes authenticity, grit and reflects a fast-paced city life. Those with a Boston accent similarly show assertiveness. If you are fan of confidence, you might be an admirer of Bostonians.
