SCOTT COUNTY, Indiana — A man was killed in a car crash in southern Indiana on Halloween, according to an Indiana State Police news release.
On Oct. 31 at about 3:30 p.m., ISP officers responded to a crash on South Boatman Road near West Lake Road. Authorities were informed of the crash by an automated alert from an Apple Watch.
Investigators believe the a gray 2014 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling southbound on Boatman Road when the car crossed into the northbound lane, off the east side of the roadway and collided into a tree.
The driver, 48-year-old James C. Lasher of Underwood, Indiana, was unresponsive when first responders found him. He was rushed to Scott County Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival.
There were no other passengers and no other vehicles involved in this crash. Investigators believe a medical event may have initiated the collision.
