Study will explore connectivity between northwest Louisville neighborhoods and areas near Ohio River

The KYTC study will look at options to improve connections between northwest Louisville neighborhoods and those south of I-64 and areas adjacent to the river.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Residents who live in the Portland and Shawnee neighborhoods, the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is looking for feedback.

The cabinet will introduce a study exploring options to improve connections between northwest Louisville neighborhoods south of Interstate 64 and areas adjacent to the Ohio River.

The KYTC says I-64, railroad lines, floodwalls, levees and other infrastructure limit direct access to the riverfront.

This study will identify community needs and options to improve “multimodal connectivity, safety and accessibility to mitigate these barriers.”

The KYTC will hold two meeting sessions on Sept. 26 from noon to 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Molly Leonard Community Center. The address is 640 North 27th Street.

An online survey will be available following the meetings.
