LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Transit Authority of River City, or TARC, is bringing back the Youth Summer Pass.

June 1 through August 31, young people ages 6-19 with a pass can utilize unlimited travel through TARC.

While in previous years the youth pass costed $30, this year the Louisville Metro Government is fitting the bill.

“Offering unlimited travel through the summer gives our children safe and convenient access to important destinations throughout the region,” TARC Interim Executive Director Ozzy Gibson said. “Thanks to Louisville Metro, school-age kids can travel all summer this year visiting friends and family, working summer jobs, and enjoying all our city has to offer at no charge.”

A Summer Pass, good for the same dates, will also be available for adults with a MyTARC fare card but only when its obtained at the same time as a Summer Youth Pass. Only one adult pass will be issued per child's pass.

Passes are now available to load to your MyTARC fare card, but will only be accepted to ride TARC beginning June 1.

In order to activate your Summer Youth Pass you must visit a TARC location, either Union Station on West Broadway or the Nia Center also on West Broadway. If you do not currently have a reloadable MyTARC student-ID card, you will need to purchase one at one of the two TARC locations listed above for an additional one-time set-up fee of $5. A photo will be taken for the card.

Passes will not be available online or with the MyTARC Mobile app.
