LOUISVILLE, Ky. — TARC is implementing changes to its bus services with the goal of being more efficient for drivers and its customers.
According to the company, there are three changes that will be coming with their new digital communications system.
Those include reliable information to tell you where exactly your bus is, as well as keeping you informed on next stops and other crucial information while mid-route.
TARC also said it intends to improve their overall performance to ensure its buses are on time and effective.
The company said the improvements are a long time coming.
“You have to have a system like this. TARC has an existing system for real-time information, computerized dispatch and automatic vehicle location, but that equipment is aging. It’s getting past its useful like at this point,” Alex Posorski, director or marketing and communications, said. “That’s something not good for TARC riders [and] that’s not something good for our staff.”
TARC said it was able to find funding for these changes through federal grants.
The new communications system is expected to be implemented in spring 2025.
