LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) – A local school received a big surprise ahead of their first day – a brand new teacher’s lounge.
Volunteers worked all summer to completely renovate the space for teachers at J.B. Atkinson Elementary.
KFC paid for the renovations after partnering with the school for Blessings in a Backpack last year.
According to officials, a volunteer noticed the teacher’s lounge was outdated and the company stepped in to update the space.
Volunteers put in new floors, appliances, furniture, and even applied a fresh coat of paint.
