LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The grand finale of the Fourth of July fireworks show caught the attention of thousands Thursday night at Louisville's Waterfront Park.
“I thought maybe we couldn’t come because of the rain, but we’re here anyway,” said Shahanan Shaharn.
Severe storms, including a couple tornadoes, rolled through the area earlier in the day, which delayed Fourth of July festivities by an hour.
That didn't deter Mike Cosby.
"The weather is nice, the rain has cleared up, so it’s bringing a lot of people out to the Big Four Waterfront," he said.
Cosby said he was excited to spend this time with his family and friends.
“I used to always come down as a kid," he said. "Glad to see the crowd, love to meet with different ethnic groups and see people out and about."
It was an evening filled with fun for the entire family to enjoy, but for some this celebration is all about the food.
"Pizza and whatever that thing is," said Holden Elkins, pointing to a slushie.

Louisvillians got the chance to take the stage and share their musical talents this year.
“I’m mostly enjoying the music right now," Townsend Lanhan said. "I play music myself and it’s good to see the local talent come out."
Attendees say it was an overall great time that brought people from all over the Metro to downtown.
