LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Three people escaped a house fire Tuesday afternoon near Churchill Downs in South Louisville.
Louisville Fire crews arrived to the 700 block of Heywood Avenue about 3 p.m. A two-story home was on fire with "threatening exposures" on both sides, according to a department news release.
Firefighters were able to protect the homes on either side. They were able to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes.
Extra equipment was added to the scene due to air temperatures that approached 100 degrees.
No injuries were reported. All occupants of the home were able to self-evacuate.
Louisville Metro Arson is investigating.
