(Louisville Business First) - Total Wine & More plans to open its second Louisville location in St. Matthews.
According to a July 20 advertisement in Louisville Business First, the store will go into the former Staples space at 5067 Shelbyville Road, near Best Buy. The store closed in February, citing a rent hike that the office supplies retailer didn't want to pay.
Total Wine's new location is about 20,200 square feet.
The liquor chain, which is based in Bethesda, Md., is a supermarket for beer, wine and liquor. It carries more than 8,000 wines, 3,000 spirits and 2,500 beers, according to the company's website. Total Wine has one other location in Louisville, in the Paddock Shops, which opened in 2016.
The liquor retailer has only one other Kentucky location, in Lexington.
The company declined to comment for this story, and an opening date for the location is unknown. No other information was immediately available.
