LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A scary situation unfolded during a high school football game in Louisville late Friday night.
During the match between Louisville Male High School and Trinity High School, WHAS11 crews witnessed several people run from the stands.
MetroSafe said there had been reports of a gun, however it was determined to be unfounded. The St. Matthews Police Department reaffirmed no gun was found saying it had multiple officers working the scene.
The game was briefly paused, while coaches and athletic directors for both schools met, ultimately agreeing to continue on with the game.
Trinity Athletic Director Sean Duggins released a statement hours before the game notifying parents a “veiled threat” had been made on social media toward the school’s matchup against Male High School.
Local authorities and administrators at both schools investigated that threat and found it was not credible, reassuring parents the game would take place with regular security and safety precautions in place.
