LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A pair of minors have been accused of stealing a Knox County Public Schools (KCPS) bus.

Just before 3 a.m. on Sunday, the Knox County Sheriff said two boys ran away from the Appalachian Children's Home.

Deputies believe they stole the bus from the KCPS bus garage.

A KCPS spokesperson said the boys used something to jam the ignition and start the bus. They drove the bus to Lexington where it crashed through a chain link fence.

The two are charged with auto theft and criminal mischief. It's currently unknown how old each of the boys are.

KCPS is reviewing the damage to the bus and our properties to determine the dollar amount for repair and replacement.
