Men arrested, facing multiple charges after leading Indiana State Police on high speed chase

BULLITT COUNTY, Ky. — Two men are in custody after an armed robbery and multi-county high speed chase, according to a press release from the Indiana State Police (ISP).

They say around 10:40 p.m. on Wednesday the Bullitt County Sheriff's Office contacted ISP asking for troopers to check the Henryville area for two armed robbery suspects. 

Deputies told ISP the men were driving a stolen Ford F150 pickup. 

As troopers were making their way to the area, deputies told them they suspects were spotted near a Wendy's in Scottsburg, Indiana.

Scottsburg police and Scott County deputies also saw the suspects but when the men saw law enforcement they tried to leave the area, the release said.

ISP said troopers began driving after the suspects east on State Road 56 to State Road 3 and north on State Road 3 into Jefferson County, Indiana.

The chase continued through Jefferson County into Jennings County at speeds reaching 100 miles per hour.

On State Road 3 near County Road 650 South, the release says troopers conducted a PIT maneuver causing the Ford to leave the west side of the roadway and crash, ISP said in a release.

They say the driver, 45-year-old Daniel York of Evansville, Indiana, tried to run but was caught and arrested by officers with the Austin Police Department. 

The passenger, 62-year-old Everett Kline of Wheelersburg, Ohio, was arrested without incident at the scene of the crash.

Both men are in the Jefferson County, Indiana jail after medical evaluation and treatment from the crash.

In addition to being wanted for an alleged armed robbery and vehicle theft in Bullitt County, Kentucky, both men were wanted on warrants, ISP said.

York was wanted in Perry County, Indiana on charges of possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia, as well as in Vanderburgh County, Indiana on charges of battery resulting in bodily injury, criminal mischief, unauthorized entry into a vehicle, and public intoxication. 

Kline was wanted in Scioto County, Ohio for a probation violation.

Now, York is facing additional charges for:

  • Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Endangering a Person, Level 6 Felony
  • Resisting Law Enforcement with a Vehicle, Level 6 Felony
  • Possession of Stolen Property, Level 6 Felony
  • Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Level 6 Felony
  • Reckless Driving – Injured Passenger, Class A Misdemeanor and
  • OWI Impairment, Class A Misdemeanor

Kline is facing additional charges for:

  • Possession of Stolen Property, Level 6 Felony and
  • Possession of Stolen Vehicle, Level 6 Felony
