Two men rescued from house fire overnight

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WHAS11) — Two men are in the hospital after they were rescued from a house fire just after midnight.

According to the Louisville Fire Department, the fire started at a home on South 22nd St. and West Madison in the Russell neighborhood.

When crews arrived, they found two men inside the house and rescued them. The men were taken to University Hospital. One of them is currently listed in critical condition. The condition of the other man is unknown.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. It appears that the house did not have working smoke detectors.
