UofL Hospital receives special recognition for its infrastructure

The quality verification program evaluates the infrastructure hospitals have in place to monitor and improve quality, as well as improve patient safety.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — UofL Hospital is now one of 28 hospitals in the world to be recognized by the American College of Surgeons Quality Verification Program.

The quality verification program evaluates the infrastructure hospitals have in place to monitor and improve quality, as well as improve patient safety.

UofL Hospital was part of the first group of hospitals to be evaluated by the American College of Surgeons back in 2018, and now, five years later, they finally have their quality verified.

“What it is, is a verification of all the things that goes into our hospital quality is not simply having good outcomes. It’s having the processes in place, the infrastructure in place, to continuously evaluate one’s outcomes in what we call ‘continued quality improvement,'” Dr. Michael Egger, a surgical quality officer at UofL Hospital, said.

He added they're always trying to get better and improve both the patient experience and the surgical outcome.

UofL Hospital says they are proud to have the recognition and they’ll continue to improve their quality and patient experience.
