Moms experiencing houselessness honored with special Mother's Day luncheon

Wayside Christian Mission wanted to honor all mothers and to let them know how important they are to children.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Mothers were celebrated across Louisville on Sunday as various events marked Mother’s Day.

A special luncheon was held by Wayside Christian Mission to honor mothers experiencing houselessness.

Each mother that attended the celebration at Hotel Louisville’s Grand Ballroom were given a handbag filled with gifts collected by the Kiwanis Club and several churches.

Organizers said they wanted to honor all mothers and to let them know how important they are to children.

“Mo have a tough job. The best job they ever have is to raise the children and most important job is to raise children. It gets tough sometimes, especially if you're in a homeless shelter. We try to give them encouragement. I love it when they come to these events, and they just relax for a while. We can show appreciation to them. Hopefully, we're training those children too, so that they can show appreciation to them,” Wayside Christian Mission COO Nina Moseley said.

After the meal, the mothers were able to enjoy karaoke, line dances along with nice door prizes given away.
