LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A former Jefferson County Public School teacher, who was accused of distributing obscene materials to a minor, has been acquitted of all her charges, according to her attorney.
In April 2021, Micca Watts-Gordon was fired from her job at WEB DuBois Academy following a two-year long criminal investigation by Louisville Metro Police.
Watts-Gordon was facing 15 charges of sexual abuse involving a minor under 16. She was reassigned to non-instructional duties in November 2019 while LMPD conducted its investigation.
Steve Romines, the former teacher's attorney, told WHAS11 on Tuesday that a jury has now acquitted her of all the charges.
"The alleged victim admitted to going through her phone during class and airdropping private pictures in her phone to himself," he said. "The case should have never been brought."
The Commonwealth Attorney's Office said it "respects the jury's decision" in Watts-Gordon's case.
