LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Louisville Mayor Craig Greenberg announced on Wednesday that he placed the metro's police chief, Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel, on administrative leave due to her handling of a sexual harassment allegation.
In the mean time, Deputy Chief Paul Humphrey will be the acting chief while the investigation continues the mayor said.
The acting chief is probably a familiar face to most people.
Humphrey started at LMPD 18 years ago, and he is both the creator and in charge of LMPD's new Accountability and Improvement Bureau.
He also serves as the lead officer working with the U.S. Department of Justice as the department and city negotiate a consent decree.
Humphrey graduated from St. Xavier High School and went on to get his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a Philosophy minor at the University of Louisville according to his biography on the Kentucky Justice and Public Safety Cabinet's website.
The biography also said he joined the SWAT team in 2010 and became the SWAT commander in 2017.
