Worker killed at Duke Energy facility in New Albany

NEW ALBANY, Ind. (WHAS11) – A Duke Energy employee was killed in a workplace accident on May 14.

Police said they were called to the Gallagher Power plant on Monday morning for that accident.

The New Albany Police Department said 65-year-old Clarence Silviking Junior was taken to University Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Silviking died of asphyxiation. The circumstances of the accident have not been released and it could take weeks for the information to be released.

Police believe it was an accident.

The company is doing a thorough investigation and offered their sympathies to Silviking's family. Silviking worked at the plant for 36 years.
