LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A nonprofit is helping young men to become productive citizens in the community.
The ACE Project’s “Young Men in the Making” is a program that helps at-risk youth learn and develop skills with hopes of helping them become self-sufficient while steering them away from crime.
Organizers are hoping the program builds literacy skills and confidence while helping the young men in every aspect of their lives.
“For the past few months, we’ve been working every other Saturday with them, to build up those skills with vocabulary, reading comprehension, writing their own stories, spelling and then today, we focused a lot on public speaking.
The young men who participated in Saturday’s event shared their personal affirmations.
The ACE Project is a nonprofit founded by Rose Smith, the mother of Cory Crowe Sr. who was killed in a drive by shooting eight years ago.
