LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Lebanon man won big on a Kentucky Lottery Scratch-off ticket.

Thomas Peavy bought a $50 Millionaire Club ticket on May 22 from Country Convenient on East Main Street, according to a news release.

Instead of scratching off the ticket, lottery officials said Peavy scanned the barcode to see if it was a winner.

“I scanned it and there it was!” he said.

When the screen showed $50,000, Peavy scratched the ticket off to see how he won.

“I’m always messing around with the store owner and said, ‘I won $50,000!’ He about broke his neck to get around to see it,” Peavy explained.

“I called for my son to come in from the car and showed him,” Peavy added. “I scanned it and he told me, ‘We need to call mom!’”

He told lottery officials his wife didn’t believe him at first when he told her the news.

“She thought I was joking,” Peavy said. “I had to go back to the store with her and scan the ticket to show her.”

After taxes, Peavy received a check for $36,000. He said he plans to buy a new truck with the winnings.
