LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Radcliff man won $1 million in the Powerball, and another person won the grand prize of $2 million -- but that winner hasn't come forward yet.
The winner of the $1 million showed up at Kentucky Lottery headquarters after a Powerball ticket he purchased for Wednesday's drawing won the game’s second prize.
The man, who wished to remain anonymous, told lottery officials he was checking his numbers Thursday morning when he discovered his Powerball ticket matched the five white ball numbers.
He said he called his wife at work to tell her the exciting news.
“I told her, ‘I think I’m having a heart attack,'" the man said.
“Oh my god, do I need to call 911,” she asked.
“I told her, ‘No, I think I won the lottery," the man replied. "We just won a million dollars!”
“I checked the ticket with my glasses on and I checked it with my glasses off to make sure I was seeing it right,” the man said.
Lottery officials said his wife told him she would come home for lunch to confirm their big win.
“It sure is a merry Christmas,” she added.
After taxes, the couple received a check for $715,005.
The two told lottery officials they will pay off their home, but also purchase a home for their son.
The Walmart on Gateway Crossing Boulevard will receive $10,000 for selling the winning ticket.
We will update this story if the winner of the $2 million ticket comes forward.
