SOMERSET, Ky. — A Somerset woman said her husband didn't believe her after she won big playing the Kentucky Lottery.

Rosemarie Miller said she was working from home last week when she wagered $2 on an online lottery game during her break.

“I was sitting there doing my job and playing on my phone and I was entering things in the computer. I had the phone on the desk, and I hit play and when I looked down it had already said, ‘Jackpot,’” she said. “I was like, no!”

That was when the jackpot amount of $175,068.14 was displayed on her screen.

“I jumped up and ripped the headphone set out of the computer,” she said. “It was pretty unexpected.”

Rosemarie walked into the living room where her husband Michael was, to tell him the exciting news. “She showed me, and I said, ‘That’s not real,’” Michael said. “You’re just pulling my chain.”

Unfortunately there was some unexpected windfall that knocked the couple's power out. Rosemarie wasn't able to open the email from the Kentucky Lottery confirming her win until later that evening. “He still didn’t believe it,” Rosemarie said.

The couple drove to lottery headquarters in Louisville the following day, Oct. 25th, to claim the prize. After taxes, Rosemarie received a check for $126,049.06.

The lucky couple told lottery officials the first thing they plan to do is pay off their house. “We’re going straight from here to there,” she said.
