LOUISVILLE (WHAS11) -- Four East Louisville fire departments become one as of July 1.
In April 2019, Anchorage-Middletown, Eastwood, Harrods Creek and Worthington fire departments all voted to become one unit. On July 1 that becomes reality.
For residents in those areas that means there will be better response times and more safety. For the stations, there will be better recruiting for firefighters and EMTs.
Anchorage-Middletown Chief Andy Longstreet will stay chief. The other chiefs will take management jobs in the new department.
