SPEEDWAY, Ind. — James Trinkle first attended the Indianapolis 500 when his mother brought him at age 13.

Trinkle fell in love with the track that day and hasn't stopped coming back since.

The Bedford resident is attending The Greatest Spectacle in Racing for the 62nd consecutive year in 2024.

"This is heaven to me. This is the most wonderful time of the year," Trinkle said.

Trinkle told 13News that in his decades of attendance, the magic has not worn off.

"When I was 13 years old and I came here for the first time, it hooked me, and I loved it here," Trinkle said. "But as the years have gone by, the wonder of it has never left me. I've enjoyed it all this time, and today, I'm just as excited as I was 62 years ago."
