Injured owl found in Indiana backyard, rescued by animal control officer

HAMILTON COUNTY, Ind. — An injured owl is recovering thanks to the quick action of a Hamilton County animal control officer.

According to a Facebook post by the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, on Friday, Aug. 2, a homeowner discovered what appeared to be an injured owl on the ground in their backyard. The homeowner called police and Officer Travis Dunn arrived to assess the situation. 

Officer Dunn determined the owl had injured its talon and wing. The injuries possibly came from Thursday evening's storms, according to HCSO. 

The owl was reportedly transported to a certified bird rehab facility in Hamilton County for further care.
