Paul Riley and his dog, Raven, posed for a photo with his prize from the Massachusetts State Lottery.

PEABODY, Mass. — A Massachusetts man brought a friend when he collected a multi-million-dollar prize.

Paul Riley won $4 million in the Massachusetts State Lottery's "100X Cash" instant ticket game. When he claimed his prize Tuesday, Jan. 16, he was joined by his dog, Raven.

He opted for a lump-sum payment, which comes out to $2.6 million before taxes.

An animal lover, Riley told the lottery he planned to donate some of his winnings to the Animal Rescue League. He also said he was going to buy a new car for his wife.

The store in Riley's hometown of Peabody, Mass. that sold him the winning ticket received a $40,000 bonus.
