Work potlucks can be hit or miss. When you come across a dish you don't know, you normally pass by it and fill your plate with more mac and cheese or cupcakes. One girl on Twitter was so baffled by a certain dish that she posted a picture of it online and asked for help.
Emily, who describes herself as a "pizza connoisseur" in her Twitter bio, tweeted the photo on June 4 with the caption "Spotted at a work potluck.... can someone out there please explain this to me". The photo shows a dish of baked beans with peach slices settled into them.
She followed it up by asking for money so she can "get away from coworkers like this". Most people appeared to agree with Emily.
"That's someone's food version of hate," one person tweeted.
"If this is a regional dish I need to know which region so I can never accidentally go there," another said.
It turns out that this is a real dish, and it's not called "Bean Cobbler". Family Circle has a recipe on their website for Peach Bacon Baked Beans and their execution appears a bit more...appetizing.
The dish is made in a slow cooker with fresh beans and peaches, plus bacon, molasses, and chili powder. If this looks like something you'd enjoy, you can make it for yourself using this recipe.
