LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Over 14,000 people turned out for the second day of early voting in Jefferson County.
Erran Huber, the director of communications for the Jefferson County Clerk's Office, said the unofficial total shows that of the 621,059 registered voters in the county, 14,422 voted on Friday at one of the 10 early voting locations.
He told WHAS11 News this is surprising; they usually see a drop between the first and last days.
That means over the last two days, 28,271 people have participated in early voting in the Metro.
He said over 800 voters with qualified excuses cast their ballots sometime between Oct. 25 and Nov. 1, and 9,753 total mail-in ballots have been issued.
Huber warned mail-in voters have to return their ballots before the polls close on Nov. 7 for them to be counted.
Here's how many people voted and where over the last two days:
- The Arterburn: 2,754
- Bowman Field Administrative Building: 3,435
- Kentucky Center for African American Heritage: 2,181
- Kentucky Fair and Exposition Center East Hall: 2,390
- The Jeffersonian: 5,144
- Lyndon Elks Lodge #2052: 2,789
- Mary Queen of Peace Gym: 1,900
- Old Forester's Paristown Hall: 2,453
- Sun Valley Community Center: 2,386
- Triple Crown Plaza: 2,839
On Friday, Secretary of State Michael Adams, who is running for reelection this year, said 84,643 Kentuckians took advantage of early voting on Thursday. That's nearly 3,000 more people who voted on the first day of early voting last year, he said.
"If this continues today and tomorrow, we'll adjust our turnout prediction upward!" Adams said.
