LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A Louisville church is opening its sanctuary for a few hours on Election Day.

Gail Henson, with St. Paul United Methodist at 2000 Douglass Boulevard in the Highlands of Louisville told WHAS11 News, “It just seems like it’s so needed.”

In a statement, the church says "with many residents experiencing significant anxiety over the Tuesday, November 5 Election, we are opening our doors for meditation and prayer to the public during voting hours."

Senior Pastor Rev. Darren Brandon said by opening their doors, "this is one way we create a safe space for people who wish to reflect, meditate, light a candle, journal, or find solace in poetry or scripture.”

The reverend will have a short prayer service at noon, then close out the day at 6 p.m.

All are welcome to attend.
