HARDIN COUNTY, Ky. — Kentuckians are making sure their voices are being heard this Election Day.
The Paroquet Springs Conference Center poll workers had a line waiting for them when voting opened Tuesday morning, and they have remained steady throughout the day.
And other locations in both Bullitt and Hardin Counties are no exception.
One Hardin County voter even brought a chair just in case the lines were long, but didn't have to use it.
Four new polling locations were opened in Hardin County in 2024 due to more people moving to the area.
One of those added locations is Heartland Elementary School.
Poll workers at the elementary school said they were getting about 200 voters an hour, with the location being the lightest polling location in the county.
The presidential race and local issues like Kentucky Constitutional Amendment 2 and medical marijuana were among the top issues.
"We know a lot of other people who are homeschooled, and if there are opportunities to help, that would be great," voter Jamie Adams said.
Voter Tammy Hahn said she's afraid the money would be taken away from the children.
"Children will get left behind because of it," Hahn said.
Paula Vincent said that money would be helpful for her kids though.
"I don't want to impede on anyone else's education to try and get something that they could do anyway," she said.
Voters told WHAS11 News the nation is at a crossroads, with a lot of people very unhappy with where the nation is right now.
"You can go into a grocery store and have three items and it's $30," Hahn said.
The presidential race is causing a lot of stress for voters as we get into the next several hours and results start making their way in.
