LOUISVILLE, Ky. — One of the city's four outdoor pools is prepping to open July 15 after spending much of the year with its gates locked.
Council woman Cindi Fowler and her husband, have been spending a lot of time cleaning up the pool, getting things ready to go. They've also been working with some businesses to get things they need for the pool, whether it be signage or pool chairs. They've been working really hard to get things ready to go for Monday when they'll be having a pool party to celebrate the opening!
There will be pizza, prizes, beach balls, snacks and fun things for kids.
"It was really important to make sure the kids had something to do this summer," Fowler said. "I was also concerned if we didn't open it up this summer, we would never open it up ever again. So I just wanted to make sure kids were able to enjoy their summer, spend time with family and friends like they normally do."
After the pool opens up on Monday, it's gonna be open every day except Wednesdays until school goes back. After that it's going to depend on the lifeguard's availability, but it seems like they'll be able to open at least on the weekends until labor day when all the pools are going to be closing in the area.
If you'd like to be a lifeguard, Fowler is paying for the training courses, and starting pay is a little more than $10 an hour.
Admission to the pool is $2 for people under 18, and $3 for those 18 and over.
