UPDATE: Power restored in parts of Downtown Louisville after Tues. blast

Power has been restored after an underground electrical explosion on Tuesday in downtown Louisville.
An underground service explosion caused a disruption to power to some customers in the areas of 4th, Liberty, Fifth and Jefferson streets, according to LG&E spokesperson Natasha Collins.

UPDATE: Power has been restored after an underground electrical explosion on Tuesday in downtown Louisville.

Several businesses, including a stretch of 4th street live, were in the dark for several hours.

A spokesperson for the Louisville Fire Department said the explosion happened around 2 P.M. in an electrical vault near the corner of 4th St. and Liberty St.

There was no actual fire during the incident and there was no damage or injuries resulting from the blast.

The cause is still under investigation.

Collins said LG&E crews are working to restore power.

Several businesses along the west side of 4th Street Live, from the restaurant Gordon Biersch down to the Brazilian Steakhouse lost power.

LG&E is working to assess the damage.

No one was injured and there was no structural damage to any of the nearby buildings.
