Veteran news anchor Melissa Swan takes on new role at WHAS11 News

ID=17656243LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- WHAS-TV announced Monday, March 2, veteran news anchor Melissa Swan will transition to a new position within the news department using her award winning reporting skills to concentrate on stories that reflect WHAS11's "On Your Side" mission. Melissa will continue to co-anchor the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. newscasts and focus on stories that matter most to our Kentuckiana viewers.

"We're so pleased that Melissa is taking on this new role with WHAS11," President and General Manager Linda Danna said. "Melissa is a trusted journalist and a valued member of our news team. She has built her fine reputation as a tireless advocate for our viewers and that effort will continue."

During her 30 years at WHAS11 News, Melissa has won many local broadcasting awards as well as two regional Emmys. She has covered the aftermath of the 9/11 terror attacks in New York City, Presidential inaugurations, Kentuckiana soldiers guarding the DMZ in Korea, and traveled with local residents giving aid and comfort to orphans in Ukraine. Melissa has also co-hosted the WHAS Crusade for Children for the past two decades. Most of all, Melissa enjoys reporting on the people who make Kentuckiana a unique and wonderful place to live.
