What events are happening in Kentucky and Indiana on solar eclipse day?

Thousands are expected to travel between three states to get a glimpse of this celestial wonder. Here's a list of happenings in Kentucky and Indiana.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky and Indiana are preparing to welcome thousands of visitors to the area during the total solar eclipse on April 8.

Nearly 150,000 people are expected to visit Western Kentucky counties in the path of totality with others driving through to other viewing spots along Indiana, Ohio and Illinois, according to Kentucky State Police.

Kentucky

Louisville will only have a partial eclipse, however, there will be some viewing events around town. 

Eclipse at the Science Center

Join staff at the Kentucky Science Center for some special eclipse-related activities that’s free with general admission. 

Where: Kentucky Science Center, 727 West Main Street

Time: 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Indiana

Solar Eclipse Bash Paoli

Hosted by the Paoli Chamber of Commerce, the two-day event and in-person gathering plans to bring everyone together to “marvel at the beauty of the solar eclipse.” There will be music, food a beer garden and plenty of fun.

Where: Paoli Peaks Paoli Peaks, West County Road 25 South, Paoli, Indiana.

Times: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. (April 7) and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (April 8- eclipse day)

Prices: Sunday (Adults - $20, kids 10 and under - $10) or Monday (Adults - $25, kids 10 and under - $15)

Two day passes are also available $20 for adults and kids 10 and under $20

Eclipse Over Lawrence County

The county will host a watch party at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds on Apr. 8. There will be craft shows and food booths. For more information, click here.

Where: Lawrence County Fairgrounds 11265 US Highway 50W, Bedford, Indiana

Times: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Gates open at 7 a.m. with $20 per car parking.

Indiana University – Hoosier Cosmic Celebration

Join singer Janelle Monae and actor/Star Trek alum William Shatner for a once-in-a-lifetime event, click here for tickets.

Holiday World Solar Eclipse Viewing

The fan favorite amusement park wants eclipse watchers to view it from their Legend Parking Lot on Apr. 8. There will be food, music, food trucks and plenty of parking.

Where: Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, 452 East Christmas Boulevard, Santa Claus, Indiana

Time: 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Prices: Free admission

Marengo Moonshadow Fest

A three-day total eclipse festival will take place at Black Swan Lake Recreation Area starting Apr. 6. More than 30 regional, original bands and artists will be featured on two stages. Food and an artisan vendor village will also be available. There will be an eclipse watch on Apr 8. To learn more about this event, click here.

Time: Apr. 6 at 10 a.m. through Apr. 9 at noon.
