LOUISVILLE, Ky. — In the first round of the 2020 Major League Baseball Draft two University of Louisville pitchers were selected.
This marks the second time program history that two players were selected in the first round of the draft.
Junior left-handed pitcher Reid Detmers was selected 10th overall by the Los Angeles Angels. Detmers ranks fourth all-time in school history for strikeouts with 284 and tied for ninth in wins with 20.
In the 2019 season, Detmers was honored as an All-America and All-ACC First Team selection as well as ACC Pitcher of the Year.
Junior right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller was selected 29th overall by the Los Angeles Dodgers. Miller made 12 starts in the 2019 season posting a 7-1 record.
Miller's most memorable moment in a Cardinal uniform came in the second game of the 2019 Super Regional against Eastern Carolina where he worked a no-hitter until the ninth inning. UofL won the game 12-0 to advance to the College World Series for the fifth time in program history.
Rounds two through five of the MLB Draft begin at 5 p.m. Thursday.
