LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A pair of Louisville high school girls basketball players are nominated for the prestigious McDonald's All American Games.
Sacred Heart Academy teammates Reagan Bender and Angelina Pelayo were on the list released Wednesday more than 700 nominees of the top boys and girls players across the United States. Players were nominated by a high school coach, athletic director, principal or member of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee.
Bender and Pelayo have helped lead the team to three straight state championships.
Pelayo, a 6-foot-3 center, signed with UNC-Wilmington in November. Pelayo has yet to sign with a team, but has fielded offers from several programs, including the University of Louisville.
The top 24 girls and 24 boys will be revealed Jan. 23 on ESPN’s NBA Today between 3 and 4 p.m.
The 2024 McDonald's All American Games will be played April 2 at the Toyota Center in Houston. Past All Americans include Kevin Durant, Jayson Tatum, Candace Parker and Caitlin Clark.
