LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville women's basketball team is still climbing the polls.
The Cardinals (15-2, 4-0 ACC) moved up two spots Monday to No. 13 in the AP Top 25 Women's College Basketball poll. This is Louisville's highest ranking since the team was No. 10 in November 2022.
Undefeated South Carolina remained No. 1 and received all 36 first place votes. Iowa, Colorado, North Carolina State and UCLA round out the top five.
Louisville has won five games in a row, including an 83-62 win Sunday over Wake Forest.
Olivia Cochran and reserve Jayda Curry each scored 12 points and Louisville had 10 players enter the scoring column. Sydney Taylor scored 11 points and Nyla Harris, Kiki Jefferson and reserve Merissa Russell scored 10 each for Louisville which shot 31 for 56 (55.4%) including 7 for 11 (63.6%) from 3-point range and 14 for 20 (70%) from the foul line.
Head coach Jeff Walz said the Cards need to clean up the turnovers, however.
"Overall we did some really good things today," Walz said. "But then we were bad at times. We had 16 turnovers. We competed for all 40 minutes, but it's about playing a cleaner basketball game.
"Our league is as good as any league in the country. There's no doubt about it. Every night you've got to come prepared to play or you're going to have yourself a dogfight."
UofL's next game is Thursday at Clemson (8-9, 1-4 ACC) at 7 p.m.
The Cardinals are the only unbeaten team in the conference.
