Burglars ransack Rick Pitino's St. John's University office, steal several items

Rick Pitino's St. John's University office was broken into Tuesday, Aug. 22. Two suspects left with several items.

NEW YORK — Basketball coach Rick Pitino's St. Johns University office was burglarized Tuesday night.

According to ABC News, two burglars broke in and left with memorabilia and expensive wine. A basketball, $375 bullhorn and a $3,000 bottle of wine were taken by the suspects.

"Really upset," Pitino said on his X account. "Taking my memorabilia is one thing but the 1985 6L Petrus Pomerol has me livid!!!"

Pitino coached the University of Louisville from 2001-2017. He has been the coach at St. John's since 2023.

A St. John's spokesman said the theft occurred about 8 p.m. Tuesday. The university shared surveillance video with the New York Police Department, which is investigating the incident.

According to the New York Post, the suspects also left with a sword.
