LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville and University of Kentucky volleyball teams are both ranked in the top 10 to start the season.
The preseason American Volleyball Coaches Association poll was released Monday, and the Cardinals came in at No. 6. The Wildcats were close behind at No. 9.
UofL went 27-5 last season and advanced to the NCAA regional final. They finished last season ranked No. 6.
The Cardinals will face several highly ranked teams during their non-conference slate, including No. 2 Nebraska, No. 3 Wisconsin and No. 7 Penn State.
Louisville and Kentucky will play each other Sept. 18 in Lexington.
UK reached the NCAA regional semifinals a season ago and went 21-8.
