KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — While the Vols pulled out an overtime win in Saturday night’s game against Florida, it was off to a rocky start. Tennessee battled it out on the field, while one particular fan kept morale up from the stands.
Meet the 13-year-old whose dance moves are blowing up on social media right now: Cayson Cagle.
“I always knew I had good dance moves, but I finally got to show them out,” the Lexington teen said with a smile.
Cagle says he’s always loved dancing and the Tennessee Vols.
“I think we got the best atmosphere in college football, best environment, best everything, best stadium, best team, best everything,” Cagle smiled.
He shared that love with Big Orange Country on Saturday in Neyland Stadium as the Vols battled it out against the Florida Gators.
“Yesterday was my third game and my favorite one, of course,” he said, recounting his time seeing UT play in person.
Cagle made it on the jumbotron and started to dance. By halftime, his moves had spread across social media. By the third quarter, he had been on ESPN, Cagle says.
“Everybody was cheering,” Cagle explained. “It was just insane. I was like, I never experienced something like that. I love the feeling though because everybody loves my dance moves.”
Now, even the Tennessee Vols have shared his dancing.
“I've checked Instagram and I see Tennessee’s post about me and that made me, like, go insane,” Cagle recounted. “And then I checked TikTok and there's all kinds of videos about me and I'm just like, this is crazy. That's when I realized I was actually, like, really famous.”
Throughout the game, Cayson kept those dance moves going.
“I mean, yeah, I was tired but like, of course I'm going to do it,” he shrugged. “I mean, I love doing it. It's just I love dancing pretty much “
Cagle says his love for dancing comes from watching his sister, Carly.
“A lot of it is like TikTok dances but, like, I get it from my sister because she's taught me a lot of it,” Cagle shared. “She's the reason I dance a lot because she's a professional dancer and she won Dancer of the Year this year, so she's a really good dancer. And so she inspired me to like dancing a lot and I can dance good.”
Carly was beside her brother at the game, watching him show off his moves. She wasn’t the only one taking notice.
“When we were walking down the street to go to our cars, people were constantly yelling out of their cars, trying to get his attention and stuff,” Carly explained. “It was just an insane experience. I was like, ‘That's my little brother!”
Cayson says he was happy to use his moves to motivate the team and the fans, even signing a couple of autographs and taking pictures with other Vol fans.
“What if we wouldn’t have won if it wasn’t for me?” Cayson quipped. “I also think half the fans would have left the game with how bad we were playing if it wasn't for me.
The night ended in a win for the Vols and a win for Cayson. He says in 24 hours, he’s gained hundreds of followers on TikTok. He tells 10News he’s going to keep on dancing heading into next week, hoping the Vols pull off another win against Alabama.
