LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville announced Thursday afternoon that one of their basketball players is not medically cleared to compete at the university any more.
Freshman Dennis Evans has been sitting out with a shoulder injury and hasn't played in a game since Nov. 29, 2023 against Bellarmine.
He was the No. 11 overall ranked high school player in the country for 2023 according to Rivals, and No. 39 according to 24/7 Sports.
The 7-foot-1, 215 pound player played in seven games this year and started in five, and scored a season-high seven points in the teams' first game of the season against Maryland-Baltimore County.
"We are disappointed by the news and will not be releasing any additional information out of respect for Dennis’ privacy," the school said in a statement.
The school also doesn't foresee his status changing with the institution.
Evans is the second player the Cards has lost this season. The university announced Koron Davis was "dismissed" from the team on Dec. 13, 2023 after a series of contradicting statements that day.
