LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville football team is still climbing the AP Top 25 poll with a big game on the horizon.
The Cardinals (3-0, 1-0 ACC) were ranked No. 15 in Sunday's poll, up four spots from last week. They are the second-highest ranked ACC team behind Miami at No. 7.
Louisville will take on No. 16 Notre Dame (3-1) Saturday in South Bend, Indiana. The Irish shook off a sluggish start Saturday to beat Miami (OH) 28-3.
The Cardinals started ACC play Saturday with a 31-19 victory over Georgia Tech. Ja’Corey Brooks’ 57-yard touchdown reception provided the go-ahead score late in the third quarter and Tayon Holloway followed by blocking a field goal he returned 45 yards for an insurance TD.
Cardinals quarterback Tyler Shough completed 13 of 19 passes for 269 yards and two TDs, including 125 to Brooks on four catches with that 57-yard score in the third. Chris Bell had two catches for 82 yards and a touchdown, a 37-yarder that gave the Cardinals a 14-7 lead in the second quarter.
This will be the second year in a row The Cardinals and Fighting Irish will meet as ranked teams. Louisville knocked off Notre Dame last season 33-20 at home.
