LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville football team moved up Sunday in the AP Top 25 Poll after their second blowout win in as many weeks.
The Cardinals (2-0) were ranked No. 19 in the new rankings released Sunday afternoon. They moved up 3 spots after coming in at No. 22 in last week's rankings.
UofL drilled Jacksonville State Saturday 42-14 behind 349 yards and two touchdowns from quarterback Tyler Shough. It was the sixth time the seventh-year signal caller threw for more than 300 yards in a game.
Shough, who completed 21 of 33 attempts, put the game away with a 48-yard touchdown pass to Chris Bell that gave the Cardinals (2-0) a 35-14 lead with 8:58 left in the third quarter. He added another midway through the fourth quarter and then was pulled.
Louisville piled up 233 yards rushing and five players scored on the ground.
UofL has next weekend off before playing Georgia Tech (2-1) at home Sept. 21.
The Cardinals spent 11 weeks ranked in the AP Poll in 2023, climbing as high as No. 9.
