LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The University of Louisville football team will be without its signal-caller in the Sun Bowl.
Seventh-year quarterback Tyler Shough announced Wednesday he will skip the bowl game and declare for the NFL Draft. Shough played one season for the Cardinals after transferring from Texas Tech.
I've learned so much about resilience during this journey, and the growth I've experienced along the way is a true reflection of the incredible support system I've had around me," Shough said in an X post. "I'm especially grateful to the Louisville community for embracing me this year, and to coach Jeff Brohm and coach Brian Brohm for their guidance and belief in me."
Shough, who began his college career at Oregon, made the most of his 2024 in Louisville. He started every game, and completed 62.7% of his passes for 3,195 yards and 23 touchdowns.
Shough battled injuries his last two seasons at Texas Tech. He was named a semifinalist for this year's Comeback Player of the Year Award given out by the College Sports Communicators.
Louisville (8-4, 5-3) takes on Washington (6-6, 4-5 Big Ten) in the Sun Bowl Tuesday, Dec. 31, at 2 p.m. UofL has not announced who will start in Shough's absence.
